Betties Bay completed the four timer at Catterick on Monday, she's proved to be a fantastic mare for her owners, purchased for just 9k, she's now ran four times and won four times for us. Two runners on a busy Saturday, Counsel & Nibras Gold. Counsel has a rare turf start, he's yet to have won on the grass but has placed plenty of times. It looks a tough ask today carrying plenty of weight, ...

Machete Beach returns to the racecourse this evening at Hereford.A horse we liked a lot but picked up a niggle after making his debut at Plumpton. The horse was ready to run through the colder months but needs quick ground so we had to be patient with him. The track should suit well, but Machete Beach is bound to be rusty whilst needs to prove his stamina for jumping. It's a nice starting point a...

We have our first runner for a couple of weeks this afternoon at Beverley, Hedge Fund runs in the 4:15.Hedge Fund is in good form and a much healthier horse than last season. We've not been hard on him at home, he'll improve plenty for this outing against race fit rivals. Drawn in stall 8 makes things tough, a low draw over the 5f at Beverley is a must. Horses on the outside, start on raised grou...

Counsel runs at Wolverhampton today and bids to follow up his win over C&D here in March. It would need a career best to win this off 81, but Counsel loves a sharp 5f and running around the bend. The fav looks hard to beat, a top 3 finish would have been a sound effort.

Miracles Do Happen kept the ball rolling winning at Taunton on Thursday. This was our 11th winner from 27 runners this year, a 40% strike rate! A great team effort with Miracles Do Happen, it's taken a while to work her out, but she's always worked like a nice mare. Tom Lacey has his team in fine form whilst Stan is riding out of his skin.Grand National Day. I always back five horses, the below a...

Walden was a big Saturday winner for his owners last weekend at Haydock. It was nice to beat the big boys again in a valuable TV race. Walden is very progressive and is turning into a smart 3m hurdler. Just the one runner again this week that comes at Taunton today with Miracles Do Happen. She has plenty of talent but doesn't help herself been keen in her races. We are trying something a little ...

Walden runs in the valuable Stayers Final at Haydock today, race time is 2:46. Walden qualified for this race when he won nicely at Ascot last time out. The step up in trip suited Walden, it was a very good effort and impressive the way he won a big field handicap so easily. The concern today is running left handed, in the past Walden hasn't gone a yard running this way around, but it has been o...

A nice result with Counsel at Wolverhampton last night in the pouring rain. Counsel showed he still loves the job at the age of 8 and has plenty of speed left in the locker. Out of 17 runs for his owners, Counsel has only been out of the winners enclosure 4 times. He's been a grand horse. Back down to Lingfield today with Profit Street who has his final run in the Arc Aw Bonus Championship. The ...

Counsel runs this evening at Wolverhampton on the back off a mini break.A return to this racecourse and a bend that Counsel enjoys running around will suit well, he's in good form whilst Luke Morris rides who knows him better than anybody. The favourite is the horse to beat and the one with no questions marks against him.

Myrighthandman runs at Kempton today in the first race, the 2m Maiden Hurdle.Myrighthandman has been running well, just missed out at Catterick last time. He's straight forwards and will be a lovely chaser next season. There looks to be a few horses fancied in the race, backed from big prices whilst we are wrong at the weights with Loustic Du Chatel if this was a handicap. Myrighthandman deserves ...

The final day of the Cheltenham Festival and Gold Cup Day. My first couple of bets come in the 2:00. Paul Townsend hasn’t ridden in any handicaps at the festival until this one. He rides Karbau for Willie Mullins of course. This is likely a tip in itself. Karbau has placed in much better races than this “grade 1” a rating of 150 might underestimate him. Priced at 4-1. At bigg...

Halfway through the Cheltenham Festival, races switch to the new course. Conditions could change as the day goes on whilst tomorrow could see soft ground with a lot of rain forecast. It’s hard to oppose Bambino Fever in the first race, she looks smart, and her odds reflect that. A bit of 11-10 is around. If fancying her, Oldschool Outlaw must also have a chance, beat Bambino Fever two runs ...

The second day of the Festival, day one saw the brilliant Lossiemouth spank her rivals in the Champion Hurdle, it was a fantastic performance from this mare. My first picks on Wednesday come in the second race, Brown Advisory at 2:00. If Romeo Coolio stays this trip, he’ll take all the beating, but he’s never gone past 2m4f under rules. He could be very smart, but I can’t bet h...

The first day of the Cheltenham Festival. Excellent racing with some very strong renewals and plenty of doubts / questions marks at the same time in the big race of the day. The meeting starts as ever with the Supreme Hurdle. Old Park Star is the favourite for Nicky Henderson. I can’t remember the last time we’ve had an English trained favourite? Old Park Star, numbers on the clock h...
