A day off from the punting today, Cheltenham ended with a superb day of racing, but also had the very sad loss of Sir Eric. It was a very good Festival from a betting point of view, nice winners highlighted each day. Pentland Hills 20-1 was a grand winner for readers yesterday. Depending on who you backed Dickie Diver with antepost, could have resulted in a nice place. He’s going to some a ...

Gold Cup day at Cheltenham and the feature race of the week. It’s also an exciting day for us and the owners of Leoncavallo who runs in the County Hurdle. Yesterday was a good day on the punting front, Sire Du Berlais landed the gamble, Lostintranslation & Road To Respect we’re bets to nothing whilst the cheeky bet over at Market Rasen, Big Difference won easily at 13-2. We've had ...

More good action from Cheltenham yesterday, it wasn’t quite the madness of Tuesday bit still superb viewing. Topofthegame was a 4-1 winner on here whilst Brewin’upastorm rewarded EW support. I didn’t understand the ride given to Min who must have a sore neck this morning, he was strangled by Ruby Walsh and never put in the race. It was a bizarre effort. Thursday at Cheltenham is...

The racing on the first day of Cheltenham was crazy, it had everything. The betting went ok. We had the winner of the Arkle, Duc Des Genievres at 7-1 and very nearly finished the day with another 7-1 winner in Discorama. If anybody but Jamie Codd was riding Le Breuil, I’m adamant Discorama would have won. The second day of the festival isn’t my favourite but we'll give it a go. The B...

A good day of racing this afternoon at Sandown, The Imperial Cup is the feature race on the card. This race will always bring back fond memories as we won it in 2015 with Ebony Express. The day will certainly live long in the memory. We have a runner in today’s renewal, Pyromaniac makes his debut for us. Pyro as we call him has some very good form in Ireland, he works well at home but doesn...

Broughtons Admiral picked up a well-deserved win for his owners at Doncaster yesterday. It was a messy race and was always going to be one with three hold up horses. The race was very tactical, and BA had to do it from the front which is the last thing he wants. Lee Edwards gave Broughtons Admiral a very good ride, it was a case of getting the job done and pleasingly we did. I’ve not had m...

We head to Doncaster today with Broughtons Admiral who runs in the 4:50. We run again quickly due to BA going up 5lb for finishing second at Carlisle last week. Broughtons Admiral is running well but bumped into one on his last two outings. This could be a messy race with no pace and nobody wanting to lead. All three horses like cover. Suggestion won easily last time out whilst Markov was very s...

King Roland is worth backing EW for the Champion Bumper at Cheltneham before he runs today in the 4:40 at Ffos Las. None runner no bet is availabe with a few bookies, prices are between 20 and 16-1. King Roland put in one of the most impressive bumper efforts I've seen for a long time at Uttoxeter in December. He looks top class. Touch wood the bubble doesn't burst this afternoon. An EW double w...

It’s an important day of racing this afternoon for many owners with Cheltenham Festival hopes. From a personal point of view, I’ll be hoping, Angels Breath 3:00 Kempton and Dickie Diver 2:30 Chepstow both win in good style then head to the festival. I mentioned each horse on here before they ran and suggested backing for the, Supreme Hurdle 33-1 and Albert Bartlett 25-1 respectively. ...

Broughtons Admiral ran a blinder at Carlisle on Monday. BA finished 2nd a length or so behind the handicap good thing, Dorking Cock and 7 lengths clear of the 3rd placed horse. This was the second race in a row Broughtons Admiral has ran into a horse with 10lbs plus in hand. It was a great run though, BA got his owners into the winner’s enclosure again and keeps picking up prize money. We h...

We start the week with a runner at Carlisle, Broughtons Admiral runs in the 4:40. BA was second last time out and bumped into a well handicapped horse that won again on his next start. It looks like, we and all other runners could be up against another horse that has pounds in hand? Dorking Cock won a better race than this at Sandown on Friday, he won as he liked and will be 125 horse when his n...

It’s good to see racing back on and a great day of action is ahead. Annoyingly we should have been part of it. Leoncavallo was due to run in the valuable Betfair Hurdle. Our horse was ruled out though due to the new flu ruling the BHA came up with this week without any prior notice. Leoncavallo was obviously fully up to date with his jabs, but the new rule says horses must have had the flu ...

It’s been a strange old week with the shutdown of racing due to equine flu. The BHA acted quickly and made tough decisions. Although equine flu is rarely a killer it’s contagious and can spread quickly. 174 yards are now in lockdown including three of our trainers, many thousands of horses have been tested up and down the country. I think the chances of racing starting again on Wednes...

It’s been a frustrating week, we had entries at Leicester, Plumpton and Chepstow but all three meetings were abandoned due to the weather. Thankfully we have jump racing taking place today at Sandown, it’s a decent fixture but nothing takes the eye. Most eyes will be on Leopardstown over the weekend. The so called, Dublin Racing Festival takes place. The meeting is a like a mini Chelt...

Trigger Nichol was a nice winner for us at Leicester on Tuesday. Trigger won by 11 lengths and only had to be pushed out by Sam Twiston Davies. We’ve always thought Trigger Nichol was nice horse, the step up in trip was the key to him. Quick update today as were at Donald McCain’s yard with the owners of Dominating. We’ll watch Dominating work on the gallops then take the owners...
