Conditions will be biblical this afternoon at Warwick and Market Rasen. Good swimmers, big hoofs and endless stamina will be required! A watching brief for me, but I thought the below might be worth a throw away tenner. At Warwick in the 1:50, just three horses take their chance in a bid to win part of the 24k prize. It takes a brave man to take on any Paul Nicholls runner at the moment with the...

Fiscal Prudence makes his flat and AW debut for us tonight in the 6:00 at Chelmsford. Fiscal Prudence was too fast for NH racing, he jumped brilliant but always wanted to go two strides quicker. This resulted in him not getting home. Switching to the flat was the obvious move as Fiscal holds some good form in Ireland. Very much a learning curve tonight, trip and surface whilst the favourite, Fa...

Broughtons Admiral is having a run on the AW at Kempton this evening. Race time is 8:20.With the ground so bad at the moment, we've been keeping the ex flat horses that are now jumping ticking over on the level. The outings serve a purpose whilst at the same, we hope for a nice effort. Broughtons Admiral will need every yard of the two-mile trip. It's likely he will be outpaced at some point but sh...

Good news that all fixtures get the go ahead today. It’s certainly been a freezing cold and snowy week in parts. The Welsh National at Chepstow is the feature race of the day. No real thoughts on the race apart from there might not be many that finish. Lord Du Mesnil EW perhaps at 14-1. Couple of bets I've placed. The first one is Marion’s Boy EW at 9-2, 1:40 Lingfield. Marion’...

We have two runners on the AW today. It's handy having horses that can run on the all weather at this time of the year to keep ticking over. January's ground is awful, we try and avoid it over jumps when possible. Artistic Language used to be ex flat, he won't have any bother having a flat spin in the 12:45 at Southwell. Not a clue if he'll handle the surface, it was this or stay in his box at ho...

Tinsmith runs today in the 2:40 at Lingfield. Tinsmith ran fine on his last run, as explained before we're trying to get some confidence into the horse after breaking his ribs in a fall. The step up in trip should suit Tinsmith on paper but less so on breeding. Tinny shaped like he would get two miles on his last start, so we'll give it a try. Another nice run would be ideal.

We have our first runner of 2021 today, Quiet Penny in the 3:28 at Plumpton. Quiet Penny was very fresh on her first run back at Bangor last time out. She also got a whack from behind during the race which didn't help. Hopefully she'll settle and give herself a chance. The drop in trip would be a question mark, we don't want a three mile slog so early in the year on deep heavy ground. Hoping for...

Happy New Year to you. I hope 2021 has got off to a good start, and it's a great year for all. I was really pleased with our results in 2020. In total, we had 97 runners. 17 of these were winners, 15 seconds, 10 thirds and 11 fourth placed. 44 finished out of the winner' enclosure. £118,752 of prize money was won. To have over 50% of all runners finish in winners enclosure is a great achi...

We finish the year with a runner at Warwick, Stung For Cash takes his chance in the 2:25. Stung For Cash ran fine on his return at Carlisle last month, the outing hopefully blew the cobwebs away. He won't be long in going chasing and likely will do so after today. This race looked a nice stepping stone. Trip and ground won't be a problem, it's actually the first time conditions will be in his fav...

I hope you had a great Christmas, enjoyed spending time with the family and the turkey was good! Super racing as ever on Boxing Day. All eyes will be on Kempton with the King George the highlight. I’ve had a couple of bets, but they will likely turn out to be foolish as both come with questions to answer. Shan Blue has looked very impressive in his two starts over a fence so far, he sets a...

It’s been a very wet week, conditions today will be shocking. Going stick readings of 4 suggest it will be last horse standing stuff. Proper gruelling races. We’ve not had any runners so far this week, and I’m pleased we haven’t. It can take weeks to get horses back after running on such ground. However, we do send Tinsmith to Lingfield on the AW at 3:40. Tinny is on the ...

A great card of racing on the second day of the International meeting at Cheltenham. The big race of the day is the Unibet Hurdle at 3:00. It will be fascinating to see how Goshen runs. He of course is the horse that fell at the last in Triumph Hurdle when well clear. Goshen has run twice on the flat since but hasn’t gone great. He also takes on far more experienced horses this afternoon, h...

Broughtons Admiral runs at Cheltenham this afternoon in the last race. It's always great having a runner at Cheltenham whilst it's a racecourse BA normally runs well at. The heavy ground did for Broughtons last time out combined with carrying twelve stone. Broughtons Admiral has no weight on his back today but it would need a career best effort. We'll ask Tom Scudamore to hold onto Broughtons an...

Salateen makes his debut for us this evening in the 6:00 at Chelmsford. A horse that needs little introduction, Salateen is a ten-time winner and winner of over £300,000 in prize money. He’s won at Meydan, Listed races and Group placed. In his prime, Salateen would have picked his rivals up tonight and carried them to a win! Still rated 93 but with a few miles on the clock. We purcha...

Conditions will be very testing this afternoon at all jump meetings. The Chepstow going stick is 3.3, I can’t recall a reading so low and for that reason, we’ve taken out Broughtons Admiral who was due to run there. Excellent racing despite testing ground. The National fences are in action at Aintree, Tingle Creek day at Sandown but not Altior who came out last night. Crowds will also...
