It was frustrating to see English King declared for the St Leger but taken out yesterday in preference for the Group 1 Juddmonte that takes place at Longchamp on Sunday. I hope English King runs well in France but can’t help thinking he’s tailor made for the St Leger and step up in trip. English King hasn’t looked quick enough for 1m4f at the top level in his past two starts. I ...

We have two runners this afternoon both over the jumps at Newton Abbot. Broughtons Admiral is first up in the 2:40. He’s not an easy horse to get fit and is taking on horses that have been running through the warmer months. The race is a nice starting point for him. Included in the 3:15. We ran Included too quickly after her good run at Stratford. Back over a fence will help and she’...

We had a fantastic day and evening on Wednesday, two runners and two winners. Pisagh Pike bolted up at Hexham by 13 lengths, Nikolayeva then followed up on her Catterick win a few days before to win again at Wolverhampton. It was a great day for the owners with some involved in both horses. Eva and Pike were our only two runners this week, the wins keep the excellent run were on at the moment go...

We have two runners today, one over jumps and a flat runner. Pisgah Pike is up first in the 4:15 at Hexham. Pisgah Pike ran well last time out when finishing 2nd at Market Rasen. The better ground and a wind op helped. We’ve had to wait for some nice ground again and it comes on a track that might not be ideal for PP. Undulations and stiff climb. Unless something is lurking that hasn&rsquo...

Weather conditions in the past couple of weeks have been awful, huge amounts of rain have messed up running plans for many horses. A good day of racing this afternoon has been spoilt by soft ground at each fixture. Results will be all over the place so I’m leaving it well alone. A monsoon hit Fontwell yesterday, any chance Black Anthem had went out of the window. Half the racecourse was flo...

Nikolayeva won in impressive style for her owners at Catterick on Wednesday. Conditions were awful, proper heavy ground but Nikolyeva loved it and could have done another circuit. The form is perhaps to be taken with a pinch of salt as only three horses ran any type of race. The performance told us which season Eva will run in once she goes jumping. She could be a lot of fun over hurdles in time....

Yes No Maybe So completed the hat trick at Southwell yesterday. We've had horses win three times in a season before but not three on the bounce. It's great when things like this happen, Yes No Maybe So is certainly proving well bought. All credit must go to trainer Tom Lacey & Jonathan Burke who get’s on so well with the horse. We have another runner today at Catterick where conditions...

We start the week with a runner at Southwell, Yes No Maybe So lines up in the 4:25. Yes No Maybe So has won both of his races since we purchased him. He's a nice horse but his future is very much over a fence in long distance staying races. A 9lb raise in the weights and up in class won't make things easy for Yes No Maybe So but the galloping track should suit. The race is the feature on the car...

We pulled Sampers Seven out of her race at York on Wednesday due to the ground. Plenty of rain came down which was frustrating, but with the backup option of trying again this afternoon in the 5:10, it made sense. Thursday saw York in glorious sunshine but that was undone yesterday with more heavy showers. The forecast is the same today. If we had further options in the next couple of weeks, Samp...

Sampers Seven will hopefully run today in the 4:20 at York. It’s a quality race with a nice pot on offer. Having a runner at the Ebor Festival is fantastic for Sampers Seven owners. The weather has gone against us annoyingly and it’s not certain Sampers will run yet. If the rain forecast arrives, there’s a good chance we’ll pull Sampers Seven out as she needs a quick surfa...

Leoncavallo won in grand style at Haydock on Tuesday. It's great to see this horse back to his best. David Pipe has done some job with the horse. We have plenty of options with Leon, it's possible we could go for a big pot on the level before going back hurdling. No time for a full update today as we're at Tom Lacey's for a stable morning with the owners of Pirate Of The Sea & Black Anthem. ...

Today would have seen the Shergar Cup meeting take place at Ascot. This fixture was called off sometime ago though due to the Covid virus. However, it’s not all bad news. Ascot has put on a normal meeting that’s far superior to the awful Shergar Cup day! Haydock and Newmarket also host good meetings, we’re off to Uttoxeter this evening with a runner. The 1:40 at Newmaket is wor...

Black Anthem was a good winner for his owners at Southwell on Wednesday, this was his third start in ten days that's resulted in form of 1st 2nd 1st. It was a another very good effort from this bonny horse that looks to be improving all the time. Black Anthem has a brilliant attitude and is loving life at the moment, he’s not a superstar but certainly knows how to win and that's all that co...

The Qatar Goodwood meeting is taking place this week. I've not updated as it's my least favourite big flat meeting of the season. The racing is great with some top class horses running, however it's a meeting I find punting at very tough. Horses that come round the home bend a few lengths behind, it's like been stuck on the M6 in rush hour. We'll see many unlucky losers this week, a watching brief...

Yes No Maybe So, won in determined style on his debut for his owners at Uttoxeter on Thursday. Jonathan Burke gave him a super ride. Purchased privately for little money, Yes No Maybe So looks a nice horse to have plenty of fun with. He held good bumper form and looked the type that would be suited by better ground. The trip was the minimum for him, his future is three-mile chasing. Yes No Maybe...

Leoncavallo gave us our second winner of the week at Stratford on Tuesday. Given a grand ride by Tom Scudamore, Leoncavallo was impressive winning by 13 lengths. Leon is a classy horse, David Pipe and his team at Pond House have done a tremendous job with him. Leon is firmly back to his best. The busy week continues with a runner at Uttoxeter today. Yes No Maybe So makes his debut for us in the ...
