No time for a full blog today as by the time you read this, I'll be on my way to Ayr. We have Leoncavallo running in the Scottish Champion Hurdle Trail. It's seasonal debut for Leon. He's in good form but must give a lot of weight away whilst the ground is soft. You have to start somewhere though and this is a nice starting point in a good Saturday race.

The wet weather has forced Doncaster & Newbury to abandon. This isn’t surprising as the rain keeps on coming. So many meetings already have been lost due to waterlogging. In January you wouldn’t be surprised but not this time of the year. We had a stable visit earlier in the week at Dr Newland’s. Owners got to see the new training facility and watch their horse work on gallo...

The big end of season flat meeting takes place at Ascot this afternoon, Champions Day with six super races taking place. Punting will be an unknown as the meeting is taking place on the inner hurdles course due to the heavy ground on the flat track. This will result in a lot of unknowns. Firstly, the draw. This meeting has never taken place on the hurdles course, there could be a biased whilst wh...

We have a runner at Wolverhampton this evening in the 7:45. Adams Park has his first run under the guidance of Mick Appleby. We’ve not ran Adams Park on the level before so it’s a bit of a learning curve for us. On paper, Adams Park might require further than 1m4f. We're also taking on race fit and possible improving 3yo horses that AP must give weight too. Adams Park seem in good fo...

We were really pleased with Included’s effort at Worcester on Thursday. Third in a race with much higher rated horses than her whilst running on ground that didn't suit. Included is now qualified for the valuable Mares’ Chase Final at Cheltenham in April. This will be lovely race to go for and give her owners a big day out. We’ll send Included on her holidays now, she’s ha...

Included has her last run of the season this afternoon in the 2:10 at Worcester. The race is a qualifying event for the Chase Series Final at Cheltenham in April. Eight horses would have qualified from this race but with just the five runners lining up, Included just needs complete to give her owners a big day out next year. The ground will be on the soft side for Included whilst she only ran fi...

We have our first runner today for a few weeks, Included runs in the 2:25 at Fontwell. The wet weather of late has scuppered our running plans. We’ve sent most of our summer horses on holiday now and Included won’t be far behind them. Included deserves to get her head in front over a fence, she’s ran fine but the handicapper knows where she is. We’ve put a pair of cheekpie...

We’ve had a busy Saturday so far and just got back from a stable morning at Mick Appleby’s. The owners of Adams Park were watching their horse work on the gallops. Thankfully the weather was kind and we had an enjoyable time seeing horses such as Danzeno and Big Country. The Cambridgeshire is the big betting race of the day, 31 runners in a cavalry charge at Newmarket. Finding the win...

Ayr’s three-day big flat meeting of the year sees the feature race take place this afternoon at 3:50, The William Hill Ayr Gold Cup. 25 runners take their chance over 6f with £124,500 to the winner. It’s a fantastic prize, somebody will be going home very happy later today. I thought Wasaayef would take a bit of beating in the 2:10 at Newmarket but there’s been plenty of m...

The Doncaster St Leger meeting has seen pleny of good racing in the past few days. Today’s card is the highlight with the St Leger taking place at 3:35. The turnout this afternoon is disappointing. Three, five runner races whilst the last sees a matchup. The St leger only sees eight runners take their chance. Logician is the short-priced favourite and rightly so. This son of Frankel is unbe...

We head to Newton Abbot this afternoon with Black Anthem who is bidding to land a hat-trick of wins in the 3:00. Black Anthem has been a super horse for us since we claimed him for 6k. He's going up in the weights after winning three times already, this will catch up with him at some point. Black Anthem must give a hefty amount of weight away to a few of these. If we can grab another win that wo...

Good racing today up and down the country. Haydock holds a great card of racing where the ground is soft. That’s a shame as some class horses haven’t been declared, I suppose it’s getting to that time of the year though. We head to Stratford with a runner, Competition takes his chance in the feature race at 4:35, a 0-150 Handicap Hurdle. Competition ran a cracker last Sunday wh...

We have a runner at Worcester this afternoon, Competition takes his chance in the 5:10. Just the five horses line-up in a competitive little race. Course specialist, Hallings Comet loves it around here, a six-time winner that tends to make all. Competition must give him a fair chunk of weight whilst Excellent Team won well last time out. Solstalla has been supported in the betting. Competition i...

Sandown host a good card of racing this afternoon. The Group 3 Atalanta Stakes for Fillies & Mares at 3:00 and the Solario Stakes at 3:35 would be the highlights. It’s not easy to get away from the chances of Jubiloso in the Atlanta stakes, she’s a short price but her form is someway above her rivals. Jubiloso was unlucky not to win at Goodwood and would have done so in a few more...

Black Anthem won again for us and his owners at Newton Abbot on Thursday. It was a routine win, Black Anthem never came off the bridle and scored easily under Charlie Hammond. This win, was his third form just four starts since we claimed the horse for £6000. We thought there could be more to come from Black Anthem and he could be a big improver. He’s proven to be a great piece of bus...
