We snapped up Trigger Nichol in a private deal a week before the sales for £12,000. This son of Dubai Destination looks good value for money.
Trigger Nichol made £40,000 as a store horse, that wasn’t at all surprising considering his size, scope & breeding. A half-brother to the smart Fine Parchment, his dam, Run For Cover is a half-sister to the high-class Fundamentalist whilst recent Cheltenham Festival winner Barters Hill is also in the family.
Trigger Nichol ran twice in bumpers for his previous connections. He ran green on debut but showed up well for a long way. On his final start Trigger Nichol was 5th beaten 20 lengths. However, the winner won by 15 lengths and Trigger Nichol was only four lengths off 2nd. He could have easily placed if fully ridden out.
Trigger Nichol should thrive over hurdles, he’s not bred for bumpers and needs a bit of time to fill his frame and strengthen. He looks a lovely novice to have a lot of fun with through the winter jumps season.
Trigger Nichol will be trained by Dr Richard Newland.
