We have our first runner today for a few weeks, Included runs in the 2:25 at Fontwell. The wet weather of late has scuppered our running plans. We’ve sent most of our summer horses on holiday now and Included won’t be far behind them.

Included deserves to get her head in front over a fence, she’s ran fine but the handicapper knows where she is. We’ve put a pair of cheekpieces on today for the first time in a hope this might find a bit of improvement. This is an open race with the likes of Gleno & Pointed And Sharp bound to run well. We’ll see how we go.

Really good racing today but mostly on soft ground.

Bedouin’s Story should have no problem with a soft surface, he takes his chance on the 3:10 at Ascot, priced at 8-1 EW. A soft ground winner over seven furlongs at York and a good second when last seen. It’s a very competitive race but half of the horses might not handle the going, if you have a horse that does and is in good form, you’ve got a fighting chance.

Over at Longchamp in the stayers race at 4:35. Cleonte looks overpriced at 16-1. Dee Ex Bee will take all the beating but there looks to be some EW value. Cleonte ran a cracker last time out, only beaten a length and a bit by Stradivarius who would be odds on if running in this. Cleonte stays strongly and holds bits of form on soft. He should run well at nice odds.
