Greyhounds

Trainer

Patrick Janssens has a wealth of experience in greyhound racing, having started to train dogs at the age of 10 in his home country, Belgium. He has since travelled the world learning the best training and breeding practices from a huge variety of people in countries including the USA, Australia and Ireland.

Patrick went on to be Assistant to Linda Jones and subsequently, 11-time Champion Trainer Mark Wallis. He has since set-up on his own at beautiful kennels in Suffolk. Things have gone from strength to strength and in 2020, Patrick was crowned Champion Trainer for the first time, an impressive feat for a man with a small but elite kennel of dogs.

Career highlights include Kilara Lion winning three category one races including the East Anglian Derby, the Kent Derby and Blue Riband. Marathon bitch Goldies Hotspur won the TV Trophy in 2017 and was runner-up in 2018. Desperado Dan has won 45 races from 99 starts including the Gold Collar and Champion Stakes and, more recently, Bockos Doomie won the Sussex Cup 2020 at Hove, adding that title to the Henlow Puppy Derby he's already won as a youngster. The stunning black and white dog was also unbeaten in 17 races at Hove.

The Janssen's kennel is family run with his wife Cheryl and daughter Ria working alongside Patrick to provide the best possible care for their dogs. All dogs receive five star treatment during their racing careers and are, without exception, found loving homes once they retire.

Value Racing Club are proud to be involved with the Janssen’s kennel where welfare is paramount. We look forward to plenty of success with Patrick and his family.

Ambassador

Julie Collier has been involved with greyhounds her whole life as her family owned runners at Wimbledon and Hove when she was a child. Sunday's were spent happily walking the dogs at the kennels and Julie completely fell in love with the breed.

After studying for a degree in media studies, a job at Sky Sports beckoned which meant working on a wide variety of sports, including greyhound racing. It was after a shoot one day with some 8 week old puppies that Julie bought her first greyhound in her own right, a little girl she called Roxy who raced at Hove and went on to live a happy retirement at home with Julie. Other racers have included Westmead Julie and Collier Bay.

Welfare has always been the priority for Julie; whilst she is very passionate about her racing, particularly open racing, the care and love for the dogs always comes first. Julie is an honorary friend of the Greyhound Trust having raised £250,000 for the charity and helped home many dogs herself. She has also helped to spread the word that 'greyhounds make great pets' with appearances on Talksport, Talkradio, This Morning, Sky News and several TV and Radio stations in the USA and Australia where she went to visit rehoming centres to find out about their homing schemes.

Julie now presents and reports for Racing Post Greyhound TV and has her pet greyhound Lola with her at home.

We are delighted to have Julie as our greyhound ambassador. Her knowledge and care for the sport are second to none.

Our Greyhounds

Druids Say Go

Druids Say Go

Druids Say Go is our third greyhound and was once again sourced from Ireland by Patrick Janssens.

We've had some great days out with the greyhounds so far winning over 20 Open Class Races. Hopefully, Druids Say Go can add plenty to that total.

She looks a very promising young bitch with a nice future ahead of her.
