I hope you had a lovely Christmas and enjoyed spending time with the family. If you’re out until the midnight hour this evening, have a great night. May I wish you a prosperous 2017.

2016 has been a excellent year for Value Racing Club and more importantly the horses owners, 10 winners and numerous placed efforts. Our runners this year have returned a 72% place strike rate, that statistic reads very well and I’m very proud of it.

Thistlecrack cemented his place at the top of the Gold Cup market with an impressive King George victory. What he beat on the day I’m not sure as Cue Card looked a long way below his best.  It was hard not be impressed in the manner of the victory though, Thistlecrack tanked through the race and won with plenty in hand. I’m not sure the horse is crying out for a further 2 furlongs as per the Gold Cup whilst it will be heart in the mouth stuff if he stands off the fences at Cheltenham as he did per Kempton.

With the news that Coneygree is in a race against time for the Gold Cup it’s hard to see what could beat Thistlecrack. At this stage, it looks like a possible Tizzard one two with Native River who was very impressive when winning the Welsh National under top weight.

I’ve had one bet today, Robin Roe in the 1:50 at Newbury priced at 15-8. I think this horse could be top class.

Have a great 2017!!!
