We have two runners this afternoon, Trigger Nichol at Huntingdon and West Of The Edge in the Borders National at Kelso. It’s all rather deja vous far as West Of The Edge is concerned. This time last year the meeting was abandoned due to snow. The horse was halfway to Kelso and so we’re his owners. Thankfully there is no danger of snow today, but we could have done with lots of rain. W...

The jumps racing on offer this afternoon is fantastic up and down the country. Aintree have races over the National fences, the Beacher Chase at 1:30 looks a smart renewal. We also see the return off One For Arthur, the 2017 National winner who landed some very tasty ante post bet for readers on here. At Sandown, the current Arkle favourite Lalor runs in the 1:50. Later on, the brilliant Altior m...

It’s been a steady week so far on the racing front, the weekend however will see some super racing on offer. Kalashnikov was impressive when winning at Plumpton on Monday. He jumps well and looks ready for a harder test after two easy wins. If he’s the Arkle winner I’m not sure at this stage. Kalashnikov deserves to be the joint favourite though on what we’ve seen so far. ...

Today is the start off the two day Ladbroke Newbury fixture. It also kicks off a great weekend of sport. We have the big fight between Wilder & Fury plus Samcro taking on Buveur D’Air in the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle. I’m not sure I'll get a blog update done tomorrow, it depends on what time we get back from Alastair Ralph’s. The owners of The Green Ogre and Pyromaniac are...

It was a great weekend of racing, Bristol De Mai won the big race of the day “Betfair Chase” confirming his love with Haydock once again. If the King George & Gold Cup was run at Haydock, Bristol De Mai would win the lot. Bristol De Mai needs to prove he can win away from Haydock, something he’s struggled with in the past. Might Bite was the disappointment of the race. He la...

Super racing this afternoon, valuable races come thick and fast from Ascot & Haydock. The feature, is the Betfair Chase at 3:00. This race is a belter, Might Bite and Native River, the first and second in the Gold Cup meet again. Bristol De Mai won this race last year by 57 lengths. We then have the promising, Clan Des Obeaux and the returning five time Grade 1 winner Thistecrack. I think th...

Excellent racing at Cheltenham this afternoon, the day starts with the JCB Triumph Hurdle Trial at 12:40. I’ve heard a few things about the Nicky Henderson filly, Never Adapt who was impressive on her only start in France. Snapped up by JP Mcanus soon afterwards, her work at home has been very good. Like any newcomer, Never Adapt could run green but a nice effort is hoped for. Montestrel co...

Today is the start of the three day Cheltenham November meeting. Some great racing is on offer between now and Sunday. The going is given as good, Cheltenham will have done a grand job with the watering. The lack of rain is becoming frustrating now, racecourses have dried up again this week and many have firm in the description. A few tracks in the north have more sensible ground after seeing rai...

We had a good day at Market Rasen on Thursday, Aldrin won for his owners in grand style. Buzz was given a lovely ride by Charlie Hammond and won as he liked without coming off the bridle. The win was Aldrin's third from his last six starts, the horse has only run 7 times for us. David Pipe has done a great job with him. Aldrin is learning and improving all the time, he's far from the finished art...

Settimo Milanese ran like a horse that needed his break yesterday as we feared. He found the race coming quickly after Aintree, the petrol tank was running on empty. His ability and willingness kept him in contention, but Charlie wasn’t happy with Settimo from an early stage. This showed in his jumping. Settimo had been running in Ireland before we purchased him, he’ll now go on holid...

Although we’ve had no runners since Settimo Milanese excellent 2nd place at Aintree ten days ago, last week was a very busy one. I was at the Newmarket sales for four days. We said goodbye to Mountain Rescue whilst purchased some new horses. We managed to buy our number one choice for the new Northern syndicate with Donald McCain. The horse in question is called Dominating. He’s a ver...

We have a runner at Aintree today, Settimo Milanese lines up in the 1:15. Settimo Milanese has been impressive in his two wins for us, in fairness those races haven't been great and this is a big step up in class. We'll find out a lot more about Settimo this afternoon. If he can be competative in a 0-130 around Aintree, we've got a smart horse. We're looking forward to a great day out.

We've got a stable morning today so no time for the normal Saturday blog. It's been a busy week. Doncaster sales Thursday, meeting up with quite a few people and buying the horse we were so keen to secure. Potentially I think Roddy could be the best we've bought. He's a stunning horse. The next ten days will also be very busy. A few runners planned and the Newmarket sales. I'll be there for the f...

The first of our winter horses runs today although it far from winter ground! Trigger Nichol should run in the 4:25 at Ludlow. We’ll check the going before we let Trigger Nichol take his chance. We need rain, it’s incredibly dry for this time of the year. Taunton have abandoned their next meeting and Wincanton is apparently 50 – 50 for Sunday. Trigger Nichol runs against race f...

Excellent racing today, Champions Day at Ascot plus three jump fixtures also take place. Champions Day comes late in the season, it’s always bit of a debate if the meeting should happen earlier in the year. It’s soft / heavy ground at Ascot, John Gosden has the big four running, Stradivarius, Lah Ti Dar, Cracksman & Roaring Lion. If the quartet win, the bookies will have taken a hu...

We have two runners today, Aldrin runs at Huntingdon in the 3:45, we then head to Kempton with Mountain Rescue who lines up in the 8:15. It will be nice to have runners under both codes on the same day. Aldrin bids to follow up his win at Southwell last time out, the handicapper raised Buzz 6lb for his efforts. Aldrin came out of the race in good form and we hope he can put two good efforts in ba...
