We have two runners today at opposite ends of the country. First up is Stung For Cash in the 12:50 at Ayr. Stung For Cash ran well on his debut for us in a bumper at Uttoxeter. We ran into what could be something very special in King Roland, our horse finished nicely clear of the 3rd. It’s hurdles debut today in what looks a competitive race. I dare say the top five in the betting will win...

Dickie Diver really should have won yesterday and won with a bit to spare. The Nicky Henderson trained horse was a little green and pulled hard in the early stages. Dickie Diver also didn’t jump the last two hurdles v well. Despite this, the difference between winning and losing was jumping three out when Lisnagar Oscar was allowed to steal a march. Dickie Diver suddenly had five lengths to...

Dickie Diver is a horse worth putting in the notebooks, not just for today but long term. Owned by J P McManus and trained by Nicky Henderson, Dickie Diver makes his UK debut in the 1:35 at Chepstow this afternoon. I mentioned this horse a few weeks ago but he was pulled out on the day of the race. Dickie Diver is held in the highest regard, he’s very smart. The race will take some winning...

Decent racing today but we have small fields in most races and no EW terms. This is due to the quick ground. It’s causing a real problem now, the two horses we ran at Leicester we’re both badly outpaced from flag fall. It was like summer racing on good to firm ground! Today sees the Classic Chase at Warwick, the going is good. I can’t remember the race taking plane on anything b...

We have our first runners of 2019 this afternoon, Trigger Nichol & The Green Ogre both head to Leicester races. Trigger Nichol makes his chase debut in the 12:35. We’ve always thought Trigger Nichol would be a chaser in the making, if today’s conditions are suitable for him though we’ll have to wait and see. Everything else in the race apart from Trigger and Lord Marmaduke ...

I hope the New Year has started well? It’s been quite so far this end, we’ve not had any runners yet but that could change next week if we have suitable ground. The weather has dried up again, the forecast is set cold now with no rain forecast. It’s amazing having good ground this time of the year, Leicester is good to firm on the chase track! The racing is just fair today with ...

We have our last runner of the year this afternoon at Haydock. West Of The Edge runs in the feature race at 2:00, The Last Fling Chase. West Of The Edge ran fine at Kelso on his last run, we knew we didn't have much chance going into the race as the ground was against WOTE. Conditions will be far more suitable today. We could have done with a few extra furlong though, 3m3f is a little on the shar...

I’m not sure what to make of the King George form but as things stand, Native River will likely take all the beating again in the Gold Cup. Waiting Patiently was badly hampered at an early stage and gave Brian Hughes no chance. We still don’t know how good he is or isn’t. Might Bite bled, and now has a lot to prove. Clan Des Obeaux won nicely, at the age of 6 he will play a part ...

I hope you had a lovey Christmas Day and the Turkey was tasty, touch wood Santa found his way too. The sport on Boxing Day is probably the best of the year, we have some fantastic racing and football on offer. The feature race of the afternoon is The King George at Kempton. Before looking at the King George I’ve placed a few bets. It’s not possible to go through all the cards in deta...

I hope readers took the hint on Angels Breath yesterday. This horse is the real deal and looks high class. Jumping just the four hurdles would have been against him, but Angels Breath still showed a lot of speed despite winning a three mile p2p. The 33-1 for the Supreme has long gone, touch wood you had a few quid on antepost. We were very happy with Stung For Cash 2nd place in the bumper at Utto...

Ascot holds a good card of racing today. I’m looking forward to watching Angels Breath who runs in the Sky Bet Supreme trial at 1:55. I mentioned this horse last week before Angels Breath was withdrawn due to the quick ground. The going won’t be a problem this afternoon. This race is a very good renewal, it’s a big ask on debut for Angels Breath but he’s held in very high ...

We have a runner at Ludlow this afternoon, Broughtons Admiral takes his chance in the 3:05. BA ran ok on his first start of the season, he was badly hampered at the first hurdle, this put us on the back foot from the word go. Broughtons Admiral steps up in trip today, we think the extra distance will suit but the ground will now be quite testing. The race will likely be a good stamina test. It&r...

Angels Breath, the very well thought of newcomer from the Nicky Henderson yard, was pulled out yesterday because of the ground. Put this horse in your trackers, he’s very smart and could make an impact in March. Fact Of The Matter was a nice winner for readers yesterday priced at 7-1. He jumped great and looks a natural around the Cross Country fences. We have a runner at Doncaster today, ...

Aldrin wasn’t quick enough for the AW racing earlier in the week. The pace of the race was slow, and it turned into a sprint as it can so often at Lingfield. Aldrin kept going at the same pace but couldn’t find another gear. The likelihood is this would be the same on AW surface. We learned Aldrin needs further on the level and a galloping racecourse. It’s holiday time now but w...
