Despite having just, the one runner this week quite a few things have been happening this end. Leoncavallo was a good 2nd on his chase debut, it was 30 lengths back to the 3rd place horse. Leon ran to round 140 but was outstayed by the Nicky Henderson horse as we thought he might be over 2m4. Leoncavallo isn’t the biggest horse in the world and isn’t bred for chasing. I’d be wor...

It was a shame to hear Alpha Centauri & Saxon Warrior both suffered injuries in their races over the weekend. Each horse has been retired by connections. Alpha Centauri in particular was some mare, the 1000 Guineas winner chipped her fetlock during Saturday’s race. No doubt she’ll head to the paddocks and became a valuable broodmare. Saxon Warrior suffered a tendon injury in his ba...

Mountain Rescue ran flat at Leicester on Tuesday, William Buick said he was never going. The ground turned quite soft this wouldn’t of helped but MR was beaten too early for that to come into consideration. It’s getting towards that time of the season where horses need their holidays. Most of our summer jump horses have now finished, Mountain Rescue won’t be far behind them. I h...

We have a runner at Leicester today. Mountain Rescue takes his chance in the 4:20, William Buick rides. Mountain Rescue would have a fair chance in this based on his best form, the problem is, so have the other 7 runners! This is anybody’s race, a different result would likely happen if the race was run eight different times. The winner will be the horse that has luck in running and everyth...

Henry Smith won nicely for his owners at Stratford on Tuesday. It’s never much fun when you have a horse that’s goes off at such a short price. Pleasingly it was a routine win and Henry Smith won as he liked. The prize money was a nice pot too, £5500 secured for Henry Smith’s owners. The win was our third in five days and continued the good form. Lot’s of rain is fo...

We had a good day at Worcester on Sunday, Included was a solid second just 48 hours after winning at Bangor. Included finished well clear of the third placed horse but didn’t quite have the flat speed of the winner. Included is a big mare and ready for a fence, I’m not sure if she’ll run again this year as good ground is important to her. A few hours later, Settimo Milanese had ...

Included was a ready winner for us and her owners at Bangor on Friday. It was a strange race with bizarre gambles beforehand. We’ve learnt over the years not to pay much attention to things like this. We pleasingly secured a nice win. Included is a good mare, she just takes a bit of time to get right each season. Aldrin returned yesterday after a layoff and was badly in need of the run. He ...

We have our first runner of the week at Bangor this afternoon, Included runs in the 4:05. Included was a bit unlucky not to finish 3rd on her previous start, she got cleaned up by the eventual winner at the last hurdle. It seems there's a gamble taking place on Atlas who comes over from Ireland, Richard Johnson has been booked. Atlas has been very well supported so we’ll see what happens wi...

Competition ran a very good race for his owners at Fontwell on Thursday. He was beaten just ¾ of a length by West Drive who was an 87 rated flat horse. Competition gave the winner a full stone in weight. The 3rd placed horse was 22 lengths behind, I’m confident in saying this form will look well above average in time. I have some news on a new trainer we’re adding to our ranks....

We head to Fontwell this evening with Competition who runs in the 5:50, Sam Twiston Davies rides. Competition won his two previous races, he carries a double winners’ penalty in this Novice hurdle, This could be tough especially against West Drive, Competition must give this smart ex flat horse, a full stone in weight. Competition was rated 55 on the level, West Drive 87. If this was a fla...

Henry Smith battled strongly to win for his owners at Bangor-On-Dee on Monday, it was a nice effort on just his third start over hurdles. The pace of the race was strong from the word go whilst Henry Smith found the going quick enough. We might wait for some juice in the ground before running again, likely in a novice with a winner’s penalty. The York Ebor Festival starts today. The big ra...

We start the week with a runner at Bangor-on-Dee, Henry Smith takes his chance in the 5:40. Henry Smith found the going too quick at Stratford last time out, any rain that falls would be in his favour. This looks a trappy race with some unknown quantities. Promise Of Peace was smart on the flat in Germany, won on his final start and finished 5th in the German Derby. Lester Kris was a decent flat ...

We were very pleased with Settimo Milanese debut for us at Worcester on Wednesday, a good second place. Settimo Milanese took some time to get used to the fixed brush hurdles, he hadn’t seen these before but worked them out come the fourth. Settimo is a staying chaser in the making, he’ll end up running over 3.5 miles plus and could be one for the regional Nationals. The going wasn&rsq...

Mountain Rescue ran another big race of his owners on Saturday at Newmarket, finishing 3rd beaten three lengths. For the third race running we had the worst of the draw, the ground next to the rail was a fair bit quicker on Saturday. Mountain Rescue gave his all as he always does and did well to be placed, he picked up a further 2k for his efforts. We’ll have one more run then aim to finish ...

It’s been a quite week on the runners’ front with no National Hunt racing. The jumps don’t start again until middle of next week. We were busy on Wednesday though and purchased a new horse at the Doncaster sales, Pyromaniac. He’s a proven classy horse and holds a rating of 132. Pyro needs sweetening up as did Leoncavallo & Audacious Plan who have done so well for us. P...

We had the most fantastic time in Galway with Leoncavallo even though it rained for two days solid. Suits we’re ruined and with every drop that came down, it seemed any chance we had in the Galway Hurdle had gone. Leoncavallo had other ideas though, he was magnificent and proved he’s not far off top class. Sam Twiston Davies gave the horse an outstanding ride. We we’re never wor...
