It was a bizarre afternoon at Uttoxeter yesterday, top jockeys had a rush of blood to the head and set unsustainable gallops in a good few of the races. They gave their horses no chance.

The bumper was the fastest ran since Cheltenham, the leaders all fell into a hole, it really was crazy watching it. Our horse was flat out from flag fall and learned nothing on the day. Stan did the right thing in hacking him round rather than giving Pirate a bad experience.

I thought King Roland also did very well to finish 3rd with the pace he was asked to set / couldn’t be held onto.

We run Vocatus at Newmarket where conditions will be desperate. It’s a good race that will be ran in awful conditions.

I’ve had a few quid on Le Grand Fromage EW 12:15 Ascot and Captain Morgs 2:32 Ascot.

It was a successful week at the Newmarket sales.

We purchased Awesomedude, winner of his last five flat races and rated 88. He’ll go jumping in the Spring. Plus, a belter of a filly called Saramenha. Aged just 2 and bred for a trip, Saramenha was seen flying home at Bath on just her second start over 1m2f.

She’ll be for the juvenile Summer hurdles and a good thing to win on the level once upped in trip.
