The Tattersalls sales at Newmarket this week crazy and amazing as ever. Without double-checking, I think the most expensive of the week was 700,000gns with others making 500,000gns.

Many horses made six figures including Cairn Gorm, a Group winning sprinter that we secured for 105,000gns. This is the most expensive horse we’ve ever purchased by a long way. Carin Gorm was sourced for a current owner that wanted a Saturday horse that could run at the big meetings and have days out with the family.

In total, we purchased five horses over the week, and I’m delighted with each one. We’ll have shares available in jump and flat options.

Whilst at Newmarket, Nikolayeva bolted up for her owners at Leicester and landed some nice bets, 12-1 into 11-2. It’s been a very busy week but enjoyable.

Today, Leoncavallo heads to Ascot and runs in another top Saturday handicap, or in this case a Listed one. It will take a lot of winning, but Leoncavallo is in good form and ran a cracker when 3rd in the Welsh Champion Hurdle a couple of weeks ago.

Leon will make his presence felt, but there will likely be some younger unexposed horses that could have a few pounds in hand. Leon will run his normal game race and make them work for it.

Elsewhere, Shan Blue could give Cyrname a run for his money in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby.
