A fantastic weekend of racing on offer at home and across the channel.
Newmarket host the Betfred Cambridgeshire and two Group 1 Juddmonte races for fillies & colts. Over in France, we have the Arc De Triomphe taking place tomorrow plus some very good racing today.
Our flat trainer, Chris Wall runs First sitting in the 3:25 at Chantilly. First Sitting won a valuable race at Deauville last time out. I very much hope he runs another massive race and can bring some of the £170,000 prize money back to Induna stables.
If the above isn’t enough, Market Rasen hold an excellent card of jump racing. The highlight being the £50,000 Prelude Listed Chase at 4:30.
It’s one of those days from a betting point of view you could back 10 horses and do your brains. I’ve backed three horses all in very competitive races, that’s probably the first mistake!
Anyhow, I’ve bet Big Country at 12-1 in the Cambridgeshire at 3:35. Plenty of bookies are paying 6 and even 8 places, ensure you don’t take anything less.
Big Country looks to have everything going for him today, trip, ground and targeted at this race for some time. Big Country comes out of stall 17, we don’t know if that's good or bad. However, jockey Silvestre De Sousa could go either side if the field splits into two groups.
Big Country has been threatening to win a big race, if things pan out for him I’m sure he’ll run very well. With the sound EW terms on offer he looks worth a few quid EW.
Over at Market Rasen, Red Tornado can go close in the Prelude Hurdle.
Red Tornado was laid out to win the Summer Hurdle but ran into the classy John Constable who could be a Grade 1 horse this Winter. Connections haven’t run Red Tornado since, he’s clearly been kept for this race. James Bowen comes in for the ride and takes off a valuable 7lb. the 9-2 EW with 4 places on offer is fair value.
In the big race at 4:30, Master Dee EW should give your a run for your money at 10-1. His run at Perth last month looked a prep for today.
I've done a EW treble for a bit of fun on the above and a EW patent.
