We had a great day at Market Rasen on Saturday with Gran Maestro, the racing was excellent and a large crowd enjoyed the warm weather.

Our horse ran a lovely race, granny jumped and travelled beautifully but just found the track a bit sharp. We finished 3^rd beaten a couple of lengths but it was another sound effort and great way to finish the season. Gran Maestro has proved to be a really good purchase for his owners.

The horse is now turned out in the field and will remain so until early March time next year, a nice long holiday is well deserved. His owners have plenty to look forward too I’m sure he’s going to be a lot of fun come spring 2015.

Big congratulations to our syndicate trainer Dr Richard Newland who won what’s pretty much the most valuable summer prize on offer with Mart Lane, it was also a great result for jockey Daryl Jacob who had such a tough time of things last year with his horrific accident at Cheltenham.

Now freelance Daryl isn't going to be short of rides this season and has already been named Cue Card’s new jockey.

The unbeaten Rhythm Star & our lovely new horse Dino Mite will be representing Value Racing Club and their owners throughout the winter and beyond, it’s down to the girls now. Rhythm Star should be running towards end of October whilst Dino Mite early December, exciting times!

I was gutted we just missed out on another big payday with Great Hall, the horse was boxed in two out full of running and still on the bridle, the eventual winner kicked for home and got first run when we had nowhere to go.

Phillip Makin did find a clear path towards the furlong pole and Great Hall soon closed the gap down but couldn’t quite get his head in front. It was pleasing run however from another horse that we've been waiting for.

Great Hall returned 12-1 so the EW money was fine.

Nothing happening so far this week, I’m looking forward to the weekend though especially the Arc De Triomphe.
