We were delighted with our syndicate horse Gran Maestro 2nd placed effort at Bangor-On-Dee races yesterday, GM got everything right on the day and translated his good flat form to hurdles, touch wood the penny has dropped.

Jockey Sam Twiston Davies informed Gran Maestro couldn’t be faulted in anyway, jumped great and battled hard to the line. The horse looks sure to give his owners plenty of fun in the coming seasons over hurdles and maybe a fence in time.

I’ve not really looked at the racing this afternoon as it was a long day yesterday, there is one of my notebook horses running though at Chester in the 3:30 Noble Silk. I’ve put the Lucy Wadham trained horse on the blog twice now, each time rewarding EW support at 10-1 & 20-1.

Noble Silk is an improving stayer, I would have loved to see him in the Ebor but he was balloted out. The shorter trip of one mile five might just be on the sharp side especially on a track like Chester whilst it’s anybody’s guess if the horse will handle this specialist course

I hope jockey Paul Mulrennan makes plenty of use of his stamina and gives Noble Silk a positive ride from the front. We don't have any proper each way terms with just the 7 runners so just a small bet for me at 9-2 due to the questions marks about trip and handling the track.
