We we’re due to have a runner today at Warwick, Included was making her seasonal debut. Unfortunately, the wet weather has put paid to that. The racecourse hasn’t helped themselves though.

33mil of rain fell at Warwick over the weekend, the going was given as soft in places. One nice drying day has been seen since. The racecourse informed the going on Tuesday was good all over. I looked at the weather last night and was concerned, heavy rain was forecast for this morning, I was even more worried when I read Warwick were putting 10mil of water onto the track yesterday!

The forecast rain has come down today, 11mm already and the going is now soft. So, Warwick had 33mil over the weekend, 11mil today, that’s 44mil and then put an extra 10mil down yesterday.

A grand total of 54mil, over two inches of rain. It beggar’s belief why the extra water was put on the racecourse. Every forecast informed of heavy rain on Wednesday. This is Summer jumping for Summer horses, we want good ground at worst and quicker.

Something really should be done about this watering issue, the same thing happened at Nottingham today. The BHA need to act.

Things didn’t go to plan for our runner at Huntingdon on Monday. The race was a mess, nothing wanted to go on at the start. The tapes went up, all runners stood still for 30 seconds. Something had to go on and we ended up doing so. Competition was green as grass in front and it all went pear shaped.

The Henderson horse was a good thing to win as we knew. We expected to finish 4th or 5th that would have been a nice start on route to a handicap mark but it wasn’t to be.
