It wasn’t much fun watching my keen fancy Danzeno losing all chance at the start on Saturday, the horse missed the break and ended up plum last losing a good 5 lengths in the process. You just can’t do that in Group races and it was game over v quickly.

Danzeno actually did amazingly well to get into contention especially after losing more ground when stumbling after two furlongs, the horse did hit the front with a furlong to and made smooth headway but he used himself up getting there and had nothing left in the final few hundred yards.

Beaten into 3rd and only losing out by half a length was hard to take, with a level break Danzeno would have won easily and is one to keep with going forward.

I was pleased to see the Karl Burke trained mare Odeliz win a Group 3 in Germany at the weekend, she was given a poor ride at the Epsom Derby meeting when I mentioned her on here. Odeliz deserved this success as do connections that aren’t afraid of going abroad.

Quest For More won the Northumberland Plate on Saturday and brings an end to the famous race been ran on turf as Newcastle racecourse will soon be AW track. Northern racing could do with an all weather surface that’s no doubt about that but it’s seems a bizarre decision to replace the turf at Newcastle with one.
