The start of the Galway Festival had a familiar feel to it with Dermot Weld banging in a couple of winners, Mr Weld had 6 runners on day one that finished 125132. With a further six runners on day 2 of the meeting it’s likely more will follow.

As mentioned yesterday Goodwood has not been kind for me from a punting point of view, I find it hard to find winners for whatever reason.

However, I’ve had a bet and backed Dutch Connection in the 3:10, priced at 11-4.

I’m not a huge fan of Toormore and just can’t get the horse right, this likely means it will bolt up but he was beat at odds on in this race last year and was a little disappointing at Royal Ascot.

Toormore is the best horse in the race on ratings and handles cut in the ground but hasn't got his head in front since April 2014.

Dutch Connection comes into this race in great form, his second at Chantilly last time out was a top effort, beaten half a length behind Territories "second in the 2000gns", it was a further six lengths back to 3rd place.

A return to seven furlongs looks ideal whilst Dutch Connection has proven form at this unique racecourse. The rest of the runners have a bit to find with the top two in the betting so I’m fairly hopeful Dutch Connection goes close if handling the ground.

On paper he’s got one horse to beat and looks the value bet of the race.
