We had a good afternoon at Ffos Las on Wednesday, Included & Velvet Revolution both ran super races on chase and hurdles debut. Both finished second.
Included finished ahead of horses rated 15lb better than her and jumped great, whilst Velvet Revolution was beaten a length with 12 lengths back to the third placed horse. Velvet Revolution looks a nice recruit to hurdles, trainer Alastair Ralph and his team continue to do a super job with our horses.
No time to go through the racing today in detail as we’re at David Pipe’s with the owners of Aldrin who will be watching their horse work on the gallops. Aldrin is a few weeks away from running.
The Northumberland Plate is probably the most exciting race of the day at Newcastle, Gibbs Hill is a very interesting runner. The Roger Varian trained horse hasn’t been seen for two years but I hear he’s been working far better than his rating. This could be a case of a group horse in a handicap.
If Gibbs Hill horse stays sound and gets the trip, “that’s probably the big worry as he’s never gone further than 1m4f” he’ll run a big race.
