We were unlucky not to a collect a big priced winner on Wednesday, I was fairly confident it was the day for Sukiyaki, we looked to have found a gamble with the horse bet from 14-1 into 9-2, we got on at 10-1 / 9-1.

Sukiyaki was asked to set a very fast pace, approx 10 lengths clear at one stage before coming back to the field then kicking on again. Long story short Sukiyaki tanked through the race jumped the last upsides but had nothing left to give after going too quick from the off, he lost three places near the line and finished 4th.

Connections will want money back after entering the horse in so many races before coming away empty handed at Worcester, Sukiyaki is a winner in waiting and should be followed next time.

The racing this week has not been great however come the weekend is goes crazy, Chester, Newmarket, Doncaster, Newcastle & Windsor all hold good meetings, throw in Lingfield and the Irish Derby over at the Curragh this results in too much quality racing in one day. The fixtures should be split with a few taking place during the week.

I’m happy to give Danzeno another chance 2:40 Newcastle priced at 5-2, Danzeno was sent off the 7-2 favourite for the 100k Betbright Charity Sprint last time but blew his chance before the race by giving trouble in the stalls. Reports suggest Danzeno banged his head coming out of the gates and ran all over the place with possible concussion.

Mick Appleby is a trainer going places and has gone on record saying Danzeno is a Group horse in the making, if that’s the case he should run very well in this providing the horse goes into the stalls with no issues.

The Northumberland Plate is arguably the big race of the day, Newcastle 3:50.

It’s impossible to be really confident about a selection but Noble Silk 16-1 EW can run his race. Impressive last time out the horse seems to be improving and will have no problem with ground & trip. Trainer Lucy Wadham seems to have had this race in mind for some time whilst Noble Silk might just be an improving type and still a little unexposed.
