It’s been a quite week so far but the racing goes crazy at the weekend with Chester, Haydock, York & Newmarket all holding fixtures during the afternoon. The race planning at times just seems bizarre, I don’t understand why you have four top class courses all holding meetings on the same day whilst three of them are Northern based.

We have days of racing like today that’s average to say the least, why not hold one of the above midweek and liven things up a little? Moving one of the fixtures would also help trainers and connections as jockeys will be spread all over the place on Saturday and be in short supply.

Our new purchase Sioux Chieftain has gone to the loose schooling yard for a couple of days, this will be the first time Gary “stable name” has been off the floor in his entire life so touchwood he enjoys his new task. The horse will be having a two month holiday shortly but we wanted to get him jumping before he’s turned out.

Astaire was a little unlucky not to get a place at the Curragh on Saturday, all was going well until two out but Astaire hung into the rail and got unbalanced on the track undulations. He lost his position and by the time Ryan Moore got him balanced again there was no way through, Astaire is better than this and can be given another chance.
