We we’re absolutely delighted with West Of The Edge efforts at the weekend. Finishing 2^nd in the Eider chase was a huge run. It was a full 16 lengths back to the 3^rd place horse.

The winner, Baywing in fairness did it nicely, he came past us in the final furlong like it was the end of a two mile race. The winning time, was 15 seconds quicker than last year that was run on good to soft going.

The ground on Saturday was given as heavy, it would be fair to say it rode a lot quicker. We’ll never know but this possibly cost West Of The Edge as he needs it bottomless. Our horse has come out of the race in good order and will have a few days in the field. West Of The Edge will be given an entry for the Midlands National. We’ll see how he is as the race does come quickly.

West Of The Edge won just shy of £15,000 for his owners on Saturday. This brings his total winning to £43,000 for us. We purchased West Of The Edge for £14,000 at the Doncaster sales in May 2016.

He’s been a fantastic buy and proves you don’t have to spend huge amounts of money at the sales. If you put the work in and are prepared to take a chance, these horses are around.

Our next runner could be Friday, this will depend on the what the weather is doing.
