Competitive and tricky racing this afternoon, a few Cheltenham bound horses put their credentials on the line whilst Nicky Henderson is galloping some of his Festival hopes at Kempton including My Tent Or Yours.

I tend to keep my powder dry with Cheltenham just a few weeks away and prefer to have a few extra bets once the NRNB offers start. However it would be nice to build up a bit of ammo so I’ve taken a chance on some big priced runners.

I’ve had a few bob EW on Cork Citizen at 14-1, 2:50 Newcastle. The horse ran well on stable debut for David Pipe and has some solid Irish form. Cork Citizen should have improved for his initial outing and looks fairly weighted. It’s a tough race and we’ll need some look in running but I’m hoping he might have a few pounds in hand.

Small bets at big prices is the way I’m playing things, the Pertemps Network qualifier 3:45 Chepstow will take some winning. The problem with this race is you don’t have to win to get in the final at Cheltenham, some connections will be plotting a top six finish then look to improve when it matters in a few weeks time.

I’m likely barking up the wrong tree here but Audacious Plan priced at 22-1 has been given numerous entries over the past month but hasn’t lined up until today. The trainer could be in better form whilst also has O’Faolaons Boy in the race, he could be the yards number one.

Audacious Plan is known as a chaser and stays all day long, it’s highly likely this is prep for one of the staying races at Cheltenham but I thought stamina would win the day. The horse is a fair bit lower rated over hurdles and could be well in, he might just go ok at huge odds if fully fit.

If stationed out the back for the majority keep him in mind for Fulke Kim Muir at the Festival.

At shorter odds but still a decent price, De Kerry Man 4:45 Kempton should go ok now dropped back in trip. Providing the unseat and fall hasn't knocked confidence, 11-2 EW looks a fair price.
