I hope you had a great Christmas, enjoyed spending time with the family and the turkey was good!

Super racing as ever on Boxing Day. All eyes will be on Kempton with the King George the highlight. I’ve had a couple of bets, but they will likely turn out to be foolish as both come with questions to answer.

Shan Blue has looked very impressive in his two starts over a fence so far, he sets a very high standard in the Kauto Star Chase 1:50 Kempton,

I’m keeping faith with The Big Breakaway who was unsuited by the drop back in trip last time out. Back up in distance will suit, but it’s possible Kempton won’t play to his strengths, right-handed and more emphasis on speed rather than stamina. Long term I think The Big Breakaway will be the best horse in the race, but that might not mean he’ll be winning today. It will be interesting to see how he goes.

Lostintranslation EW at 8-1 could be another silly bet in the King George, Clean Des Obeaux and Cyrname will be tough to beat. However, Lostintranslation has his ground again, something he didn’t have when only 3rd in the Betfair Chase on seasonal debut.

His placed effort in the Gold Cup, is the best form on offer.

Lostintranslation pulled up in this race last year but had a breathing problem then. If this race were at Cheltenham, I’d be confident the Colin Tizzard trained horse would take the beating, but Kempton is very different. His odds have tempted me in, they look a bit big.
