It was a great weekend of racing, Bristol De Mai won the big race of the day “Betfair Chase” confirming his love with Haydock once again. If the King George & Gold Cup was run at Haydock, Bristol De Mai would win the lot. Bristol De Mai needs to prove he can win away from Haydock, something he’s struggled with in the past.

Might Bite was the disappointment of the race. He lacked his normal jumping fluency and show jumped some of the fences. A lot was made of the fences at Haydock, we witnessed may fallers. The jockeys reported they we’re bigger than ever and solid, it seems too solid as horses we’re tipping up if just catching the top. Might Bite possibly scared himself early in the race Nicky Henderson thought. He shouldn’t be written off just yet.

We have a runner at Kempton today, Broughtons Admiral makes his seasonal debut in the 3:40. Broughtons Admiral gave his owners a great first season, running at the likes of Cheltenham and Aintree on Grad National day. Broughtons Admiral also won nicely at Hereford.

Today is a starting point, we’ve been waiting for some softer ground but that’s not happening at the moment, although rain is now forecast this week. Everything in the race apart from Sao, holds a fitness advantage over our horse. This will likely be seen at the business end of the race.
