The wet weather has forced Doncaster & Newbury to abandon. This isn’t surprising as the rain keeps on coming. So many meetings already have been lost due to waterlogging. In January you wouldn’t be surprised but not this time of the year.

We had a stable visit earlier in the week at Dr Newland’s. Owners got to see the new training facility and watch their horse work on gallops. It was an excellent morning with five different syndicates in attendance.

I also visited the yard of Tom Lacey’s and had a good chat with Tom about his training regime and all things horsey. Tom is doing incredibly well, his strike rate is one of the best in the country whilst the yard is set in a stunning location.

Tom has kindly agreed to train a horse for us, we’ll be looking to send him something soon as possible and joining one of the top trainers in the country.

Cheltenham is the main meeting today, conditions will be very testing. It could pay to stick with horses that perhaps have already had a run this season.

It’s a watching brief for me.
