I didn’t go to the Doncaster sales that took place this week in the end, the two horses we liked were both withdrawn Wednesday afternoon so that was that. We had a few other horses of interest but these we’re further down the shortlist and I wasn’t going to try and buy our 4th or 5th choice.
We buy all our own horses and vet them in person, we don’t just hand over monies to the trainer. Our club ambassador and Racing UK pundit, Mark Howard casts his eye over the shortlist and gives his thoughts. For the past 3 weeks I would have spent around 70 hours working on the sale, this type of thing happens a lot and it is what is it. We’ll never buy for the sake of it, there’s always another horse.
The 2:20 at Yarmouth that was ran on Wednesday and highlighted on here could have produced a Royal Ascot candidate. The first three horses home we’re the ones I had heard good things for. Legends Of War ran out a ready winner and I was very taken by his effort.
A 900,000gns purchase, Legends Of War showed a great turn of foot and powered clear. He was given odds of 6-1 for the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, I wouldn’t put anybody off backing the horse EW antepost.
Lots of rain around in the past 24 hours, the word soft has crept its way into the going descriptions. Nothing really takes the eye this afternoon and we could see some strange results. I’m sitting today out.
If you wanted a bet, have a few quid on Legends Of War EW.
