It’s a watching brief for me this afternoon, I can’t bring myself to back anything at Ascot with the meeting being ran on soft ground and don’t fancy much elsewhere.

The feature race of the day if the King George Stakes, Golden Horn is the standout horse.

The unbeaten colt is well clear of his rivals and should win easily but the soft going is bit of a worry. It's also possible the Derby winner might be withdrawn, trainer John Gosden will make a decision after walking the track.

If today’s going was decent Golden Horn would be a 4-6 shot or shorter, if you think he'll handle conditions 5-6 isn’t a bad price.

Providing all 8 runners do stand their ground Madame Chiang at 16-1 EW might just grab a place. It will be hard for her taking on the boys but she loves soft ground whilst has won at Ascot before.
