The 5:05 at Worcester is a run of the mill 0-105 handicap, not a great race by any means but one of the runners is worth a second look, priced at 9-1.

Sukiyaki showed some promise on his first start for Charlie Longsdon, 4th of 15 on hurdle debut, the horse was then set impossible tasks in above average maiden hurdles and asked to race fairly quickly from once race to another.

His last two efforts at Warwick & Newton Abbot were possible handicap outings for a rating whilst I’ve noticed in the last 3 weeks Sukiyaki has been entered in ten or so races but not declared, entering horses is not cheap so it looks like connections might have been waiting for the correct race & conditions.

If you take out the odds on jolly Ilewindelilah it's wide open and looks weak contest, the favourite is far from a superstar too and might not handle today’s quicker ground.

Blinkers go on Sukiyaki for the first time plus Tom O’Brien is an interesting booking for this yard. The icing on the cake, Sukiyaku has been quietly supported in the betting from 14-1 this morning.

I might be reading something into nothing, however entering in so many races is not the norm and will have cost good money, maybe connections are hoping to get some of the entry fee's back and a bit on top this afternoon.

An EW bet at a nice price is the call.
