We were very pleased with Mountain Rescue who ran a sound race on his seasonal debut in the Spring Cup on Saturday. Mountain Rescue finished 10th but was only beaten 4 lengths and was in the thick of things with half a furlong to go. The draw did us no favours, Mountain Rescue was always in the open and Harry Bentley couldn’t get any cover. MR ran a very game race though and earned his place in such races going forward.
The Punchestown Festival starts today and sees some smart horses lining up. Supreme Hurdle winner Labaik & Ryanair winner Un De Sceaux are two of the feature horses on day one.
I don’t tend to get involved much at this meeting as it comes late in the season, horses can be over the top and run below par. If betting I would look for runners that haven’t ran at the feature festivals in the past month or so.
