It’s been a busy few weeks, I’ve been preparing for the Goffs sales that took place yesterday and burning the midnight oil going through form and race replays.

I’m pleased to say I secured the horse we wanted to buy, Aldrin. This 4yo by New Approach will go Spring / Summer hurdling with David Pipe. This will be our first horse with Mr Pipe. I’m delighted David has agreed to train a horse for us and very hopeful we’ve sent him a smart recruit.

I’ll get full info out on Aldrin on Thursday, however his form is very good.

On debut Aldrin was 4th over 7 furlongs at Doncaster beaten 4 lengths. Aldrin was in the thick of things from the word go but got didn’t have the pace over this distance in the final furlong. The 3rd placed horse won next time, as did the 2nd placed horse, the winner ran for the first-time last week and came second at Meydan! Those 3 horses are now all pushing 90 rated.

Next time out Aldrin was 3rd at Epsom beat 2 lengths over one mile two. He was given a very forceful ride and sent on six furlongs from home. He only got caught close home after going clear. With a more patient ride Aldrin would have won nicely as the Time Form comments inform. The 4th placed horse was 80 rated and won next time out.

The market was weak yesterday at Doncaster bar the normal P2P hyped horses. I’m sure Aldrin would have fetched around 35k if he went through the Newmarket ring in a flat sale. I secured him for £22,000 and that looks outstanding value. Aldrin vetted soundly and has plenty of size at 16.1 hands. He’ll be jumping to start with but I’m sure we can win on the flat with him too.

Some shares will be available but I dare say he won’t be around for long. If you would like further info please drop me a email or phone call.

Greyed A runs today in the 2:50 at Ludlow. We’re stepping Greyed A up in trip and running over 3 miles for the first time. We don’t know if he’ll get 3 miles, however if he’s going to do so it will be around Ludlow.

Greyed A didn’t stay 3 miles in P2P races in Ireland but we hope he’s a stronger horse now. If he stays, I’m sure Greyed A will run his normal game race.
