Super racing this afternoon, valuable races come thick and fast from Ascot & Haydock. The feature, is the Betfair Chase at 3:00.

This race is a belter, Might Bite and Native River, the first and second in the Gold Cup meet again. Bristol De Mai won this race last year by 57 lengths. We then have the promising, Clan Des Obeaux and the returning five time Grade 1 winner Thistecrack.

I think the ground has gone against Bristol De Mai whilst Thistlecrack will likely need the run. With the race been run on good ground, a sharper track than Cheltenham plus the trip not as far, I’m with Might Bite.

I’m confident Might Bite will have too much speed around here for Native River.

Might Bite, is a class 3 mile speed chaser, Native River is a strong stayer and future Grand National horse. Todays race isn’t going to be a slog as per the Gold Cup, it’s a speed test and Might Bite will have too many gears in my opinion. I think he could win nicely.

Clan Des Obeaux can’t be ruled out, he could be the horse that steps up this season. He’s only six and has improved no end of the Summer his trainer says. I’ve backed Might Bite at 11-10 with saver on Clan Des Obeaux.

If fit and ready to go, Politologue should take all the beating over at Ascot in the 2:05. He’s the stand out horse in the race and should win if fitness isn’t an issue. A short price at 5-4 but fair.

At bigger odds, Admiral Barratry EW should go well in the 1:50 at Haydock.

Priced at 7-1, Admiral Barratry was unlucky not to win on seasonal debut. He ran very wide at Kempton and wasn’t helped by the eventual third placed horse that hung into him stopping a clear run. This race is handicap debut for Admiral Barratry, a further step up is required but a mark of 133 could be quite workable.
