We were very pleased with Trigger Nichol who ran at Ludlow on Wednesday. Trigger Nichol jumped like a stag on his hurdles debut but found everything happening too quickly. I know it’s a cliché, but this horse won’t be seen at his best until he goes over a fence. He’s a 3 mile chaser in the making as per his pedigree and relatives. Hurdles are a stepping stone.

Today is the final day of racing before Christmas Day.

Decent racing at Ascot but the card is made up of wide open handicaps. Gold Present "8-1" would be a speculative fancy in the 3:00. He was tough when winning last time out and that’s what you need for a race of this nature. The odds look fair and he should give you a good run for your money.

Over at Haydock I’d be willing to give Cap Soleil "13-8" another chance in the 1:00. I’m not sure she ran to form when beaten into 2nd place at Newbury. It’s possible that might be good as she is but connections believe she didn’t run to form.

I’m off to finish the Christmas wrapping and collect a last few bits. May I wish you and your families, a wonderful Christmas. I hope Santa is kind!!!
