We head to Fontwell this evening with Competition who runs in the 5:50, Sam Twiston Davies rides. Competition won his two previous races, he carries a double winners’ penalty in this Novice hurdle,

This could be tough especially against West Drive, Competition must give this smart ex flat horse, a full stone in weight.

Competition was rated 55 on the level, West Drive 87. If this was a flat race, Competition couldn’t beat West Drive. If he’s taken to hurdles, the weight difference could prove to be an impossible task, West Drive has also been well supported.

West Drive isn't the only danger. Robin Des Mana has also won his two previous races, his jockey takes a useful 5lb off. Cora Sundrop can't be ruled out too.

This is a good race, we’ll give it a go and hope Competition has some petrol left in the tank after a busy season.

York made good viewing yesterday, although it would have been better if Cross Counter didn’t get beat in a photo by his stable mate in the Voltigeur Stakes. I’ve placed just one bet at York today, the racing is very difficult with big field handicaps.

Original Choice EW should run well in the Clipper Logistics at 3:00, best price 12-1 with most bookies paying 5 places. His record in big field handicaps reads well. Original Choice looks to be in good form based on two previous efforts, a repeat should see him there or thereabouts.
