A fantastic day of racing ahead, it’s difficult to know where to start. Quite a few smart flat horses are making their seasonal debuts whilst some with lofty reputations appear today. One such horse is UAE Prince who runs in the 5:10 at Leicester. He’s considered a Derby horse in the making and held in high regard.

At Sandown, Richard Johnson will be crowned champion jockey for the first time after been runner up to Sir A P McCoy umpteen times. The prize is hugely deserved. Also at Sandown the trainer’s championship will be decided, Paul Nicholls & Willie Mullins are firing as many bullets as they can this afternoon. I hope Mr Nicholls wins it and keeps the title in Britain

The feature race at Sandown is the Bet365 Gold Cup, The Druids Nephew could go well at a big price “16-1”. He was well fancied for the Grand National but the rain that came down beforehand ruined his chance. The horse also struggled with his jumping out of the soft ground. Providing he’s none the worse for this efforts at Aintree, The Druids Nephew should run his race and have an EW chance at nice odds.

At a shorter price “6-4”, Forge in the 6:35 at Doncaster has apparently done well over the winter and a decent effort is hoped for.

Next week should be a busy one for our horses and their owners. At this moment in time we could have Mountain Rescue, Kenobe Star & Sioux Chieftain all running.

A new syndicate will also be launched soon; the Doncaster end of season National Hunt sales takes place in May. We’re looking for a proven winter horse that can run in some valuable Saturday races from the word go. Names are now being taken for the new syndicate.
