Fair racing this afternoon, it’s good to see Kelso rewarded with healthy field sizes and smart horses running. Kelso put on solid prize money, it’s a nice little track where owners are made to feel welcome.

Noel Fehily takes his final rides at Newbury, Noel announced his retirement during the Cheltenham festival. Noel is the ultimate pro and had a great career, hopefully he can go out with a winner on, Get In The Queue.

We’ve not had any runners this week, we’ll have entries for next weekend though. The summer horses are all in pre-training and going well. Our flat horse “Roddy” moved to Mick Appleby’s this week.

Nothing stood out like a sore thumb for a bet today, but I did back Lord Wishes last night at 14-1, 4:45 Kelso. Lord Wishes has done me a few favours over the years. He returned from two years off the racecourse in February and ran well in a better race than today's. He used to be very useful and peaked at 136. Lord Wishes runs of 114 today but is now aged twelve.

It’s possible he could bounce or not retain full ability, however this is a race he can go very close in, if running to 85% of past form. I thought he was worth a EW punt at nice odds.

Elysees was the other horse that caught the eye, 2:40 Newbury. This race has been the target for some time. Elysees had an outing on the flat in prep for this and likely to keep his current rating intact. 6-1 EW should see a run for your money.
