We have a runner today at Newcastle and it’s a big one. West Of The Edge runs in the prestigious £80,000 Eider Chase at 2:45.

We’ve had this race in mind for West Of The Edge all season. The horse has been kept fresh as possible for this marathon staying trip. It’s going to be a real war in such conditions, survival of the fittest.

West Of The Edge is proven on heavy going and proven over 3.5 miles. The Eider is over 4m 1/2f. We don’t know if WOTE will stay the extra distance whilst no horse by Westerner “WOTE sire” has ever won over 4 miles. That’s a stat we will need to break but stats are there to be broken.

Will Kennedy takes the ride. It’s great having Will on one of our horses again in such a big race. Will rode Ebony Express to victory for us in the Imperial Cup.

West Of The Edge is the 3^rd in the betting for the Eider, that’s not bad for a horse that cost just £14,000 from the Goffs sales. Vinnie Lewis could be the unexposed horse that’s open to plenty of improvement. He looks sure to go well as does Back To The Thatch.

Having a runner in such a race is great for the owners and we’ll enjoy the day whatever the result.
