We head to Ascot today with two runners. It’s always good fun having runners at Ascot. A fantastic racecourse and the owners experience / facilities are excellent.

The first of our runners is Flash De Clerval who makes his debut in our colours at 1:30.

Flash is a grand horse and a big lad, he’s going to be a lovely chaser in the making over a trip. His sire is the same as Pineau De Re who Dr Newland trained to win the grand National.

This is warm looking maiden with the likes of Fred holding a rating of 132. Flash would get 20lb off him in a handicap. We’ll learn plenty today about Flash, trip, ground how to ride him etc. It’s a nice starting point so we’ll see how we go.

Leoncavllo is our second runner in the feature race at 3:45. Leon needs little introduction, he a very good two miler and gives his all on each start. Leoncavallo ran a super race on seasonal debut, 2^nd in the Scottish Champion Hurdle Trial.

The ground isn’t in his favour but that’s expected at this time of the year. Leon carries top weight, giving a stone away to the likes of Red Force One will be tough. He’s the class horse of the race though and will make them all work.
