We head to Ascot today with two runners. It’s always good fun having runners at Ascot. A fantastic racecourse and the owners experience / facilities are excellent.
The first of our runners is Flash De Clerval who makes his debut in our colours at 1:30.
Flash is a grand horse and a big lad, he’s going to be a lovely chaser in the making over a trip. His sire is the same as Pineau De Re who Dr Newland trained to win the grand National.
This is warm looking maiden with the likes of Fred holding a rating of 132. Flash would get 20lb off him in a handicap. We’ll learn plenty today about Flash, trip, ground how to ride him etc. It’s a nice starting point so we’ll see how we go.
Leoncavllo is our second runner in the feature race at 3:45. Leon needs little introduction, he a very good two miler and gives his all on each start. Leoncavallo ran a super race on seasonal debut, 2nd in the Scottish Champion Hurdle Trial.
The ground isn’t in his favour but that’s expected at this time of the year. Leon carries top weight, giving a stone away to the likes of Red Force One will be tough. He’s the class horse of the race though and will make them all work.
