Stradivarius won the Ascot Gold Cup for trainer John Gosden. The hot favourite, Order Of St George finished 4th and looked a little moody. Ryan Moore struggled to get the horse into a canter going down to the start. Stradivarius is only a 4yo and could dominate the staying division for a good few years.

More great racing today with 4 Group races at Royal Ascot. It looks a minefield for betting with each race looking open and many runners. The only bet I’ve had at Ascot is Qazyna, 9-1 EW in the Sandringham Stakes at 5:00.

Qazyna didn’t get home off 1m2 at Newmarket in the Pretty Polly stakes, the drop back to a mile this afternoon is ideal. I’m a little worried the going might be a bit lively for her whilst stall 4 could be the wrong side. It’s certainly not a straight forward selection but I know Qazyna is held in huge regard and has a big race in her if not today.

At Newmarket this evening, Loxley is a nice horse and should go well. He was supplemented for the Group 1, Racing Post Trophy and ran with credit. The race just came a bit early in his career. His odds of 13-8 could look good if ready to roll.

We have two runners at Market Rasen this afternoon. Adams Park makes his debut in the 1:40 and Ilovemints takes her chance in the 2:10.

We bought Adams Park for the juvenile hurdle races that take place through the Summer months. The horse has a decent profile for these. If Adams Park can enjoy his first race over hurdles and give us something to build on that would be grand. I’m hearing Test Valley is decent.

Ilovemints was going ok at Southwell last time out but made a horlicks of the second last flight. She needs to put in a good round of jumping and this is something Minty hasn’t done yet. Quantum Of Solace looks the worthy favourite.
