The two horses given yesterday both provided a profit, Tasleet won impressively under another excellent ride by Paul Hanagan. I didn’t back the horse as the odds were a bit short for me but hopefully you might of placed a few quid on.

Melvin The Grate rewarded EW support at 25-1 with a grand performance finishing 4th. Traffic problems at one stage looked to ruin the bet but once seeing a bit of daylight Melvin The Gate stayed on very well and was maybe a bit unlucky not to finish 2nd or 3rd.

Today’s racing at York is very tough, big fields and handicaps, I’ve had one bet though and will be leaving it at that.

In the first race, 1:55 Libran went into my notebook when running at Royal Ascot last time out, the horse would have gone very close if not for been trapped in at a vital stage. When in the clear Libran came home like a scalded cat and looked very unlucky not to have won.

Libran has changed hands for a big money deal since Royal Ascot but still remains with trainer Alan Swinbank, it’s likely this race has been the plan since and with luck in running I hope he can go well.

The selection is priced at 11-1, I think that's fair EW value on a tough day at York. A few bookies are paying 5 places so ensure you shop around.
