Competition followed up his win the previous week with an impressive effort at Uttoxeter on Wednesday. Our horse showed a nice turn of foot and won a fair novice hurdle. Sam Twiston Davies gave Competition a lovely ride.

Competition looks progressive and is doing what we thought he might. He was a cheap private purchase, his owners bought into what we saw and now have a smart horse on their hands. The win by Competition was our third in eight days, long may it continue.

Loads of good racing today as always on a Saturday. I’ve not had much time as we head to Market Rasen with a runner, today is the big Summer jumping meeting of the year.

I’ve had a few quid on Autocratic in the 1:50 at Newbury at 9-2.

This is a good little race that will take some winning. Autocratic has been running well in top races all season but just comes up short. A tongue tie and visor go on for the first time. I’ve heard he worked well in them midweek. If the combination brings out a little bit extra, Autocratic might have his day. It’s a shame we don’t have any EW terms, although you can back three places on Betfair.

Really looking forward to Market Rasen, good race from start to finish. The two feature races are the Summer Hurdle & Summer Plate. We were lucky enough to win the Summer hurdle a few years ago with Gran Maestro. We could have ran Leoncavallo in the race who was the antepost favourite but we’re heading to Galway with him instead. Leoncavallo will run in the £300,000 Galway Hurdle in a couple of weeks time.

We run Included in the 2:40 in what looks a competitive race. Included ran below par at Hexham on her seasonal debut, nothing came to light, so we go again. Hopefully she’ll show a bit more this afternoon.
