We had the most fantastic time at Royal Ascot yesterday with Mountain Rescue. Everything from the welcome to the owner’s lunch was excellent. Ascot have got it spot on.

Mountain Rescue ran his race too. Our horse showed up well for a long way in 3rd place on his side of the draw. However, the near side had the better ground and they were always a good 4 or 5 lengths ahead. Everything on the far side that raced handy, faded out of contention and had little chance.

That’s what you get in the hot big field races. It was a top day out and a huge thrill.

Pushed for time this afternoon but i’ve gone with three big priced selections and hope one of them might give a return.

Silver Quartz EW in the 3:05.

Silver Quartz hated the going last time out, turned soft. I can forgive that effort as he looked decent beforehand. Back on a quick surface, i'm hoping Silver Quartz will run better than a 25-1 shot. Shop around four 4 places.

First Contact EW, 5:00. Step up in trip will be fine and the switch to turf I hear won’t be a problem. I think he’s on the best side of the draw whilst top jockey William Buick rides. 11-1 EW 6 places on offer.

The King George at 5:35 will take some winning. I’ve gone with Godolphin again and Cross Counter priced at 7-1 EW 5 places on offer.

Cross Counter looked smart in his two wins. He lost lost nothing in defeat when 2nd last time out in what looked a good race. Cross Counter gave away a full stone in weight to the winner and looked in need of a bit further. The step up to 1m4 is ideal. William Buick rides.
