Day 1 of Royal Ascot looked hot and the racing wasn’t bad either, Lady Aurelia was brilliant for American trainer Wesley Ward. Point and aim seems to be the way to ride her, if she’s fit and well she wins.

Aidan O’Brien had a day to forget and that’s something we can’t say very often. His horses ran under par but it’s a bit early to suggest the yard aren’t in form. Royal Ascot is highly competitive and these races take some winning. Let’s see how they run this afternoon before jumping to conclusions.

Irish jumps Willie Mullins reminded everybody he’s not a bad flat trainer, Thomas Hobson dotted up under Ryan Moore who gave the horse a super confident ride.

Suegioo rewarded the EW stakes when 5th at 22-1 for us yesterday. Marsha & Oceane both ran their races but weren't good enough on the day.

Wesley Ward could be back in the winner’s enclosure on day 2 of the Royal meeting.

Happy Like A Fool is the 11-10 favourite for the Queen Mary Stakes at 2:05. This filly was super impressive on debut and Mr Ward has gone on record saying she’s pretty special. Connections have won this race for the last two years and will likely do so again.

I’ll be shouting home Mix And Mingle for our syndicate trainer Chris Wall in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at 3:40. Mix And Mingle landed some tidy bets when she won the Group 3 Chartwell Fillies at Lingfield last time.

Mix And Mingle is definitely up to this standard but might be better over seven furlongs, last year a mile stretched her. I can’t support anything else in the race for obvious reasons and hope Mix And Mingle runs a huge race for the yard.

The Prince Of Wales Stakes is arguably the highlight this afternoon. I’m taking on Highland Reel as I think he wants further. Jack Hobbs also falls into the same bracket whilst might want slower ground and can’t run on lasik in the UK.

I’ve backed Ulysses at 4-1 who was impressive on seasonal debut.

Ulysses won’t have any questions marks over the distance and connections reported he wasn’t fully fit when winning at Sandown. This race has been the aim all season. 4-1 EW looks fine.

Decorated Knight can also run well and might grab a place at 9-1 EW if the top two in the betting fluff their lines. Ulysses would be my main selection and I think he’ll run a big race.

The Royal Hunt Cup at 5:00 is a real cavalry charge, the lucky pin has fallen on Fastnet Tempest & Abe Lincoln both EW at 10-1. A few bookies are paying 6 places, do shop around.
