A great day of racing this afternoon with something on offer for all. An excellent flat fixture at Newbury takes place that includes the Spring Cup. Up at Ayr, The Scottish Grand National & Champion Hurdle take place.

It was a good day on here for readers on Wednesday, the strong message for Qazyna was spot on. Trained by Roger Varian, Qazyne won with any amount in hand. She’s held in huge regard and it was easy to see why. The 66-1 for the Oaks is now 20-1, although I’m not sure she would be an Oaks horse with the speed she showed. On this showing it will take a good one to beat her. Follow Qazyne wherever she runs, she’s the real deal.

The other horse mentioned Diese Des Bieffes also won at Cheltenham at odds of 5-2.

I’m going with another Roger Varian runner today, Defoe in the 2:00 at Newbury priced at even money. The odds are shorter than I normally play at, but Defoe is a smart horse and fit for after a couple of racecourse gallops. When last seen, Defoe ran flat in the St Leger, that run came at the end of a long season though and can be forgiven. I’m hearing, Defoe is in very good form and expected to win this.

Staying at Newbury, the Queens horse Humbolt Current comes with a good reputation. He runs in the 1:25 but is too short for me at odds of 4-5.

At a better price, Star Archer 20-1 might be worth a small EW bet in the Spring Cup at 3:45. I’m willing to ignore his last two efforts as these we’re over 1m2f and that stretches him. Back over a mile and a fast run pace almost guaranteed, Star Archer should be seen finishing well and could reward EW support. A few bookies are paying 6 places so shop around.

I don’t have any real thoughts for the Scottish National but wouldn’t be surprised to see Gold Present outrun his odds of 20-1 despite carrying top weight.

Just four shares are now left in out new horse Stung For Cash, if you would like further info please get in touch.
