The racing over the weekend made great viewing, we also had the most perfect result. Waiting Patiently winning the Grade 1 chase at Ascot for Ruth Jefferson.
The win came just one day after her dad’s funeral, Malcom’s Jefferson. Brian Hughes gave Waiting Patiently a lovely ride, the win made it 6 from 6 over a fence. The horse must have a huge chance if going for the Ryanair at Cheltenham next month but he’s far from certain to line up. Soft going is key.
Next season Waiting Patiently could be a real player in something like the King George.
Blaklion finished 2nd in the Grand National trial, the race was run in awful conditions. Blaklion looked a none stayer in such ground. Maybe he didn’t hit the front too early in the 2017 Grand National and actually doesn’t get the trip?
