Everything that could go wrong for West Of The Edge did so in the past 2 weeks. The Kelso Borders National called off messed us up. We then had no choice but to run at Catterick yesterday. Unfortunately WOTE lost before the race even started.
The going at Catterick was good ground, it was a barmy warm day. The race times we’re only 12 seconds above standard confirming quick ground. We knew we were in trouble before the race started and, so it proved. West Of The Edge was in top gear from the word go and couldn’t run any faster. Slowly but surely despite trying he couldn’t keep up. WOTE needs bad ground and a trip, everything happened too quickly yesterday, he never stood a chance.
We’ll regroup with the horse and prey for a soaking wet January.
Ludlow today with Trigger Nichol who runs in the first race.
Trigger Nichol was pulled up on debut, however that can be firmly forgiven as he picked up a problem in the first 40 seconds of the race. Touch wood the issue won’t repeat itself. Trigger Nichol will likely be a 3 mile chaser in time, Ludlow will be very sharp for him.
Just hoping for a fair effort, finish the race without any problems and then move forward.
