The racing from York this week has made excellent viewing, today, it’s the big betting race of the meeting, The Ebor at 3:35.
Not a race to get too involved with, but I do like on in here, Okita Soushi EW priced around 11-1. Bookies are paying, six, seven and even eight places so do shop around before placing any bets.
Okita Soushi ran a cracker at Royal Ascot, was very unlucky not to win. Next start although second, the effort can be marked up as the winner pinched the race off the back of a slow pace. The Joseph O’Brien trained runner looks unexposed at this trip and with luck in running, should go well.
Staying at York, Sacred in the 3:00 didn’t have things go his way at Goodwood. Trainer, William Haggas has also gone on record saying he perhaps did a bit much with the hose. I think we’ll see a good run at odds around 4-1.
We have two runners, Sampers Seven heads to Chester for a very competitive five furlong sprint. Sampers ran a cracker here last time out from an impossible draw. Stall 4 today which is much better, however, the race is 110 yards further which isn’t ideal and will likely stretch Sampers. She’ll give it a good go from the front though.
Down at Newton Abbot, Captain Square takes his chance, first start in a handicap. Captain Square gets the weight for age allowance. He loves his jumping but will have to go quicker than he has before. Hopefully Captain Square can hold his position on this speed based racecourse.
