The going at York has made the meeting very tough form a punting point of view, jockeys described the ground as dead yesterday and this certainly contributed to some shock results namely Arabian Queen turning over Golden Horn at the price of 50-1.

Golden Horn wasn’t at his best on the day, pulling hard early and not enjoying the ground but it was still disappointing he couldn’t pick the winner up. How the BHA handicappers have Golden Horn level on ratings with Frankel at the same stage of their careers is just laughable. I’m not sure what their on at BHA headquarters but I wouldn’t mind a bit of it.

Tasleet is a worthy favourite in the 1:55 but with 20 runners lining up and odds of 15-8, I can’t get involved.

In the 3:05, Melvin The Grate could ok at the huge price of 25-1. The horse caught the eye at Sandown last time when running a good race in the Coral Challenge Handicap, beaten just two lengths and having his run blocked at a crucial time.

Melvin The Gate handles cut in the ground and looks to have a decent draw in stall four, the race is highly competitive but he should give you a run for your money EW.
