Cannock Chase looks to be a horse going places, an improving type who looks ready for Group 1 races. The Sir Michael Stoute trained horse ran out a decent winner of the Tercentenary Stakes under Ryan Moore, kicked into the lead two out Cannock Chase soon put the race to bed in good style.

Leading Light won the Gold Cup as expected really, given a great ride by Joseph O’Brien who kept in the Queens horse Estimate. Our EW selection for the race Simenon at a huge 25-1 ran a sound race to finish 5th but should of been a bit closer. Frankie Dettori gave away a lot of ground at the start as didn’t want to be positioned wide.

Simenon was near last on the home turn and had an awful lot of distance to make up, however the horse came with a good run but used himself up getting close to the leaders, in the end he was beat less distance than given away at the start. On this evidence Simenon looks to be back in form, I wouldn’t put anybody off following him next time out.

No fancies for Royal Ascot today but I have backed Aljamaaheer EW who runs Saturday in the July Cup. The Roger Varian horse is apparently showing fantastic speed at home, this is his chance to finally shine.

Value Racing Club Horse Duke Of Destiny runs this evening at Newmarket, he didn’t like the blinkers last time out at Lingfield so there taken off and replaced with the cheek pieces. On last season’s form Duke would have an EW chance in this race but stall 15 makes life tough for us. With luck in running hopefully Duke can give us something to cheer about but anything can happen in these Apprentice races.

Whatever the result it will be a great night for members who can enjoy been an racehorse owner at HQ and watch live music after racing.
