Our runner at Southwell on Tuesday, Ilovemints was unlucky not to grab a place. She was coming with her run but made a mess of two out and lost her chance. I’m sure she would have been third if not for the mistake.

Loads of racing today with six meeting in the UK, the Royal Wedding also takes place so does the FA Cup Final. Something for everyone perhaps?

York was interesting mid-week, Roaring Lion put himself in the Derby picture when winning the Dante Stakes. He looked strong at the line, but the Derby is an extra couple of furlongs, I’m not sure he'll stay.

Were off to HQ today with Mountain Rescue who runs in the 4:25, William Buick takes the ride. Mountain Rescue normally needs two or three runs to hit top gear, he likes the sun on his back and hits top form later in the year. He ran as expected at Yarmouth last time out and got tired at the business end of the race.

Mountain Rescue is 7lb above his last winning mark and that makes life a bit tough for him. He’ll strip much fitter this afternoon whilst the better going will also suit. Desert Frost looks the one to beat, he could be thrown in off 87 and have plenty in hand.

We’ll see how we go, MR might need a few more pounds off his back but hopefully has an EW squeak.

I don’t have chance to go through the racing in detail when we have a runner, but I thought Purser in the 2:40 at Newmarket would go well. He’s quite a bit ahead of his rivals on ratings, Aurum would be the unknown. Odds of 11-8 looked fair I thought.
