We have our last runner before Christmas today at Ayr in the 2:30, West Of The Edge.

WOTE has been a brilliant since we purchased him for just £14,000 at the Doncaster sales. We thought this horse was open to improvement and that’s how it’s worked out, 2 runs 2 wins for us.

We’re running again just 8 days after WOTE won at Carlisle, the run is a little bit forced to be honest as the horse will be going up a lot in the handicap from Tuesday. West Of The Edge has done his winning over fences of late but runs off his lower hurdle rating this afternoon.

I’m not quite sure how the outing will work out as West Of The Edge needed every yard of 3 miles 2 furlongs at Carlisle and hurdle races are run at a quicker pace. The performance will likely depend on how full the petrol tank is.

Either way, it will be another racecourse ticked off the list and a good day out.
