Excellent racing at Cheltenham this afternoon, the day starts with the JCB Triumph Hurdle Trial at 12:40.
I’ve heard a few things about the Nicky Henderson filly, Never Adapt who was impressive on her only start in France. Snapped up by JP Mcanus soon afterwards, her work at home has been very good. Like any newcomer, Never Adapt could run green but a nice effort is hoped for. Montestrel could be the main danger.
It’s good to see Coneygree return from another absence. The 2015 Gold Cup winner lines up in the 1:50. This looks a big ask on paper but Coneygree would be very well handicapped on his best form. He could have a EW squeak. I hope Coneygree runs well for the Bradstock’s and puts in a great front running display. Vicente tends to run well fresh and might reward EW support at 8-1.
Kings Socks & Rather Be are my two against the field in the BetVictor Gold Cup at 2:25. Both horses have apparently been targetted at this race and done well over the summer months.
Over at Lingfield in the 12:25, New King is worth keeping an eye on for future reference. Well thought of but backwards, this son of Frankel will be winning plenty of races in the near future if not today.
The Maiden Hurdle at Uttoxeter 12:50 looks an above average race. Beakstown makes his seasonal debut. He was last seen finishing second in a bumper at Kempton, that form has worked out well. You can guarantee he’ll be fit whilst a wind op has taken place over the summer. Beakstown would be my main bet of the day.
