It was a shame to hear Alpha Centauri & Saxon Warrior both suffered injuries in their races over the weekend. Each horse has been retired by connections. Alpha Centauri in particular was some mare, the 1000 Guineas winner chipped her fetlock during Saturday’s race. No doubt she’ll head to the paddocks and became a valuable broodmare. Saxon Warrior suffered a tendon injury in his battle with Roaring Lion.

We start the week with a runner at Worcester, Leoncavallo makes his chasing debut in the 2:50. Leon was last seen running a huge race in the 250,000 euro Galway Hurdle. Leoncavallo finished 3rd beaten just 3 lengths by two Willie Mullins horses, the winner is apparently going down the Champion Hurdle route.

Schooling over a fence has gone ok, Leoncavallo isn’t the biggest horse in the world but he’s tidy. If this was a hurdle race over two miles Leon would take the world of beating. The main worry today would be the trip of 2m4. This will push our lad’s stamina. We’re short of chasing options until next month so this looks a fair starting point, will give Leon more time over the fences.

We will see how we go, if Leon doesn't take to chasing, we'll run in all the top two mile hurdle races.
