The York Ebor festival starts today, one of the best flat meetings of the year at a brilliant racecourse. We also have our first runners for a few weeks, well I think we do anyhow. We’ll have to check the ground after the first race at Worcester this evening. 25mil of rain fell overnight.
I wouldn’t be surprised if one of our runners came out but touch wood the going is ok.
Our first runner is Nibras Gold in the 6:05.
Nibras Gold has been ready to run for a while but with the two-week NH break and firm ground, we didn’t have anywhere to go.
Taking on a 130 rated horse in the form of, Light N Strike in a Novice isn’t ideal. We had no further options so have to run. Not a clue on the ground, it will be a first for Nibras. Light N Strike will be hard to beat.
Awesomedude is next in the 6:40. Step up in trip will suit but the going would be a big concern.
Morning Symphony is our last runner in the 7:10. She was unlucky on her debut, a horse swerved in front of her which took her eye and resulted in an unseat. Very much a learning curve outing, but she works fine.
Over at York, a low draw in the sprints of late is a must, anything high, had no chance. Atalis Bay EW would be my pick in the 1:50. He's down to a good mark and showed signs of coming to hand last time out. Priced around 10-1.
Let’s hope Baaeed shows his class on his first try over 1m2f.
